Chemistry Equation?

Suppose you had two solutions of the same molality:  LiCl(aq) and MgCl2 (aq). Which has the lower freezing point?

Freezing point depression is proportional to molar concentration of the solute, *and* the number of ions per individual molecule of solute.  MgCl2 has 3 ions/molecule, and LiCl has only two, so MgCl2 will depress the freezing point 1.5x as much as LiCl.   See "Blagden's Law".
