I lost a star employee to a big corporation. Afraid others will follow him. What to do?

It's a little late to wonder what you  could do to retain this employee. You'd better start looking at your other employees to see how you can keep them from leaving.

Could be wages, could be working conditions, could be job satisfaction, impossible to say. The only thing I know that works is to find the absolute best people and make them want to stay. That includes compensation, working conditions, job satisfaction, steady career growth, many things.

    Offer a better compensation package.

Treat your employees well and they won't want to go elsewhere.

Like with everything else, it's Supply and Demand.

If the big corporation offers better pay and benefits, expect others to follow.

Offer more. Not necessarily money, but challenge and job satisfaction.
