If you are granted citizenship in Canada, you will be given a certificate that proves it.  A grant is the actual mechanism of being given something, and proof is a thing that shows this.

No matter where in  the  world  you are,  you never want to walk around with a citizenship certificate.  Replacing that would be expensive and painful.  So, once you naturalise you will get a passport as your proof of  Canadian citizenship.   That will give you something to show an employer, bank etc when proof of citizenship is required.
