Native speakers of English, could you help me with my English?

I need to translate a paragraph but my English is not very good. Should I change this paragraph to make it sound more natural? I would be very grateful for any answers.

She is an active participants of various social initiatives. A few years ago, she donated her hair, which was over one meter long, for making a wig for a girl with a cancer diagnoses that she could wear after her chemotherapy ends.

    She is an active participant, not "participants."
