What does "quel beau coin !" mean? Does it mean "what a good place."? ?

    literally "what a beautiful corner", but corner is not meant literally.  Carries the idea of a sector or small area, a place of sorts but not just a generic place, a place that has some sort of weakly-defined limits.  Sort of like how "hole" can be used in English to refer to a place, but instead of the negative idea that a hole tends to give in English, coin carries an idea of a nice place.  A coin is more of a niche or special spot idea in this use.

    So yes, "place" but a particular type of place for which there is no good single English word.  Spot would be closer, I think. "What a great spot this is here.  Look at the view!"  Quel beau coin!
