What does "quel beau coin !" mean? Does it mean "what a good place."? ?

literally "what a beautiful corner", but corner is not meant literally. Carries the idea of a sector or small area, a place of sorts but not just a generic place, a place that has some sort of weakly-defined limits. Sort of like how "hole" can be used in English to refer to a place, but instead of the negative idea that a hole tends to give in English, coin carries an idea of a nice place. A coin is more of a niche or special spot idea in this use.
So yes, "place" but a particular type of place for which there is no good single English word. Spot would be closer, I think. "What a great spot this is here. Look at the view!" Quel beau coin!
