If an EMP hit the USA right now and completely wiped out all electronics what percent of the population would die within a year?

I would guess about 50% to 90%, in other words all those people who are sustained merely by modern technology.

the only way you're getting any man made emp to "hit the usa" in general would be from an actual nuclear attack, in which case i'm sure the emp itself would be far from your biggest problem
a massive solar flare could probably do something similar, but i doubt there'd be a huge death toll directly attributable to the electronics damage. there'd be a lot of economic disruption though, and it would take time to recover from that

A lot lower then the percentage of the population of the county that launched the EMP strike.
