Besides a faulty gas cap, what are other reasons that the check fuel cap light would be on in your car?

A couple of more items are involved in your car's fuel system. One is a pressure pump that makes sure the fuel system has a slight positive pressure on it. The sensor that tells you that a problem exists checks the pressure. The second possibility is a leaky connection or hole somewhere that does not allow pressure to build. Some cars have a carbon filter system that can get clogged up that. Those are expensive to replace.

It wouldn't be because my car is electric.

In the future, when referring to your own car , say "my car", not "your car".  FAIL

It's usually a bad charcoal canister vent valve.

Cap is loose.  Cap is not installed.  Lip could be broken or worn. Fuel tank pressure sensor could be bad or have wiring issues.  Vent valve is stuck open.
