Does you computer benefit from an extra fan? Should they be equal in out?

    Yes, It will be beneficial for your system, because it's prevent your system heat out. So you have to assemble in the frond side and another in the backside.

    All my assembled CPUs have extra fans - 1 IN (side) and multiple OUTs (rear). With propriety cases, I can't add fans but I do switch the front fan to OUT so there is no more IN. I live in a hot and humid tropical climate so every little detail must be taken to keep these computers as cool as possible.

    you want more outflow [cfm] than inflow. since fans are cheap [$10] another one is a good safety move against overheating

    Varies by Computer, Case and existing airflow through it.

    If your computer is running within recommended temp ranges without extra fans, adding more is just a waste of money and overkill unless you are just looking for the aesthetics of led/rgb lighting and bragging rights.

    Extra fans are good especially if you have added a higher rangte video card which generates more heat.

    Generally, one has to establish a flow, usually from front/side to back/top. As well, one usually has equal fans for both intake and outlet, but some fans are bigger with more air flow, etc. which is hard to really "measure". So the general rule of thumb is to have equal fans in and out, and ignore the PSU fan, as it is for cooling the PSU only.

    If in doubt, add one more fan blowing inwards if you are going to have an unequal balance.

    The most important thing is smooth airflow in a consistent direction.

    With conventional heatsink+fan coolers mounted on the CPU, that can be critical as all the heat from the CPU is dumped inside the case and affects the temperature of other parts.

    Any "dead air" areas can easily overheat and if there is not enough flow, the CPU cooler becomes ineffective; they will always be some amount above the internal air temperature.

    If you use a sealed system liquid cooler mounted to the case with the fans blowing outward, it's a lot simpler as none of the heat from the CPU stays in the case.

    The GPU and PSU will both have their own fans, also blowing their heat directly out the case - and far more effectively without the CPU pre-heating the air to them.

    With a sealed system liquid cooler mounted to the top or back, you may not need any extra fans at all.

    We have been building gaming and CAD machines for years with just a dual fan liquid cooler in the top and a single rear case fan (because that's already mounted to the case).

    They run near stone cold at full load.
