Should I go to college in Hawaii?

I currently attend a private college in a smallish town in the midwest. I only have 2 friends and I’m not very close with them. I feel like there is so much more for me out there in the world and I want to travel.

My mom is obviously skeptical because she doesn’t want me to go alone (without friends). I’m a very talkative person so I am not that worried I wont make friends in Hawaii if i go.

It isn’t just the cost of tuition. Living off campus will be expenses and as will most things there. Food, personal supplies - toiletries , laundry

And then won’t you go home at some point. airfare will be pricey. So transportation costs. Will you live there over the summer $$ or store all your stuff $ .

Figure out cost to attend, not just tuition.

There is nothing wrong with going to a university where you don’t know anyone. Both my kids did. Yes you will meet friends.

Check into study board programs From the university you are at.  My daughter spent the summer in England. She attended a university there and took schedule tours of the area. She was able to go to Ireland too.

Also think about going to graduate school in another part of the country.  My daughter and her boyfriend moved to California for Graduate school.

A friend of hers took a two year job in Alaska after getting her bachelor degree.

From what I have gathered through research as a foreigner, Hawaii is one of the safest states in the USA: As well as a friendly place to visit/live based on these forums: &

It's best that you look at QS rankings and see where the colleges/universities stand: As well as this site, which looks pretty useful, you are able to look at the statistical rates of employment after graduation, percentage of students successfully graduating, reviews/ratings, etc:

    Hope this helps.

Forget it unless you are prepared to pay out-of-state tuition rates, and twice as much for food and housing. Hawaii is one of the most expensive states in the union.

Hawaii is one of the most expensive places to live in the country.  And I suspect the same can be said of college there.  Have you checked how much it costs??
