Heck!  The water in bottles of water that you buy to drink  is distilled water. It's just sold under fancy names like 'pure spring water' or some such name. If you have to use a CPAP machine, don't buy the kind of bottled water that has any kind of a 'flavoring' in it.

Wrong, Edna! All bottles of water list their mineral content. Some brands have nothing to do with natural springs but start as distilled water which then has minerals added. Pure distilled/de-ionised water has no mineral content.

If it really is a serious issue you may have talk to a store manager, prepay and have them order a case for you. Or, you may have to make a run to a larger city like Worcester and pick up a case at a market there. Another option is to bite the bullet, pay the price and buy a case from Amazon. I suggest getting case quantities so you have plenty to cover your needs through bad weather.

It might be that an untainted supply hasn't been secured in all areas of New England yet. https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2019/07/29/tainted-bottled-water-being-sold-supermarkets-throughout-new-england/ysV33ushxsPBBouMkUqLTO/story.html

I use ice from the fridge, or a dehumidifier; it is the same simple process as distilling.

thanks - but in reality none of them actually have some - tried several different locations.  problem is, lots of stores SAY they sell it, but for the last month or so, all the shelves are empty
