Failed exam which work paid for. How do I break it to my strict bosses?

Work have paid for my accountancy course, which I sat two exams which was quite costly, they are chartered accounting exams (ACCA) and so are difficult. I passed one, but failed the other. Work are very strict and although I doubt I’ll lose my job, I feel like they will look down on me as they my managers are both fully qualified and intelligent.

And what did the contract say about payment of fees....

(as a good accountant, you ensured you had paperwork ...)

In the real world, nothing is 100%

and you CAN take them again...

So unless you were so lazy as to fail by lots (as in 0%) it is going to be an annoyance, but the bosses are real people in the real world with lots of experience of things not going 100% as expected.Fear not,

They will already know if you do... I am sure.

So, go in and ask - when can I take them again...

They are going to find out anyway and then you will have to pay them back for the cost of the course, right before you get fired.
