Narrow-mindedness, lack of education, and a willingness to depart reality and live in a fantasy land are key components necessary in any true "believer".  All religious thought finds its roots in mental illnesses.

They are brainwashed with hatred and intolerance from an early age.

I'm an atheist and I can assure you that most of them are not intolerant or negative.

Really? I know hundreds of them, and none of they seem that way to me. Do you actually know any?

Some people use their religion as a justification for their own personal bigotry. I have been guilty of this myself. I friggin hate rich people. So what do I do? I say God hates rich people too.

Because that is how their biblical “god” was, and they want to be good, obedient soldiers for him.
