Does communicating with cashiers, speaking to a receptionist at the bank, count as socializing and not being antisocial?

Also giving directions or travel instructions to strangers in the subway. I haven't "hung out" with friends for over a year.

Because that's the only time I approach people. At stores banks etc

Update 2:

I'm asking this because I don't have a gf and lost all my buddies in high school lol

Update 3:

Well we definitely did cool stuff though. I was in a band

Update 4:

Im not even sure what a friend is

Update 5:

"friends" on Facebook are really just people whom you follow each other

Update 6:

I forgot to mention I talk to people from work

Totally. I personally see any interacting with others as social interaction!

Social interaction, in most people's books, has to be with friends or co-workers

No. But you don't need to 'hang out' with friends if you don't want to. it's your life. But basic, necessary interactions don't make up for it.

    Yes it is.

    Anyone you talk to counts.

Naturally a bit more structured though but still

    good practice

For laid back chatting, as does Yahoo count as

    Socialising too.
