The good news is, you do have control over your sleep quality. If back discomfort is a chronic issue, investing in the right mattress can significantly improve the quality of your sleep—as well as your well-being while awake. Even if an injury or chronic condition causes back pain, getting a peaceful night’s sleep with good support and alignment can be the difference between manageable pain and debilitating pain.

Usually, it is good to use a hard matrass BUT it would be good to know the reason of pain.

For the most part your body position when you sleep, general fitness, and flexibility are all more important factors than the type of mattress you use.  It also depends on what kind of back problem you have.  In most cases firmer is better.  We've been misled by a lot of advertising but it really doesn't really matter what you sleep on, it's your body position and fitness that matter the most.  Sometimes just a thin sleeping pad on the floor can be the right thing.
