What would be the best tool to cut through a car's firewall?

Update:

(I want to remove the heater core from the engine side rather than take apart half the dashboard to get to it, so I'll need to cut out a size able rectangle not just drill a hole. Thanks! 2003 Ford Windstar)

Sheet metal shears, electric ones. Watch out for hoses and wires.

How exactly would you repair the hole after installing the heater core?

None. The firewall is there for a purpose...keeps engine fire out of the passenger compartment.

2 minutes on Google indicates it is one of the easiest cores to replace.

Why destroy your firewall when you can just follow a few simple instructions and do it right?

The labor paid in a shop for this job is 2.4 hrs - not that bad. You should either pay to have it done or do it the correct way, trying to cut the firewall open is not going to end well at all.

They made it accessible.  Just you don't know the way.  Try taking off the glovebox and see if you can get at it from there. One want to access the heater core maybe ONCE in the life of a car.  It is just a radiator.  Nothing more.  Get a BOOK( yes book) say Chilton publication of your car or the repair manual from FORD.  These guys know how they put it in so it is taken out the same way.  Too many wires behind it because the best tool is a CUTTING TORCH.  BUT THEN YOU CHANCE getting exhaust gases into the cab and that will kill you.  Go to a junk yard and find the same vehicle and Practice & Learn how to remove it out of the identical vehicle.  If you break stuff there, no worries.  You did it wrong. Now you know. Without destroying your vehicle.  You leave the heater core there, you just did the work learning how to remove it.  Your car is identical.
