Is it in poor taste to dedicate a song to a deceased person on Facebook?

An old friend of mine recently passed away.  I was thinking of posting an original song I had written (instrumental) on Facebook and dedicating it to the person.  However, after having some second thoughts, I considered that doing so might give the wrong impression...it might seem as if I were exploiting the person's death as a way of drawing attention to my own work.

So, what do you think...would it be a touching gesture or just self-serving?

It's an act of kindness and nothing wrong with dedicating a piece of original work in some dear departed's name. Unless, of course, that only caused more grief for the family.
