Why did President Carter call for the United States boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympic Games?


to condemn the Soviet Union’s 1979 invasion of Afghanistan


because the Soviet Union did not support the Camp David Accords


as an attempt to end Soviet domination of the Olympic Games


to send a message that the United States did not support the Soviet presence in Eastern Europe

    The answer is A. The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan,

    But then again I think some or all of the other answers might also have some part in the decision.

    E. Because the Soviets were winning too many gold medals.
