Why did the BBC feel that Princess Eugenie's wedding was not a big enough event for them to cover?

It is said that Prince Andrew went to BBC and begged them to broadcast Princess Eugenie's wedding, but they refused. Because they felt that the wedding was not a big enough event to cover. (Ouch). Why did they feel Prince William and Prince Harry's weddings were big enough event's to cover but not poor old Princess Eugenie's wedding?

Place in the line of succession has much to do with the choice.

Harry and William are sons of the future king, and William is a future king himself. Both William and Harry are official working royals. Beatrice and Eugenie are private people with regular jobs; they are not official working royals.

Add to this the fact that William and Harry are  the sons of the popular late Diana, Princess of Wales, and there has been interest in them since childhood.

  • Because some people like Prince William and Prince Harry.

The BBC wouldn't normally cover minor royals weddings.

ITV might pick it up, or Sky, but that is a commercial choice rather than a public service broadcast issue.

The public outcry would have been severe if the BBC had sacrificed precious financial resources to broadcast a very minor royal’s nuptials. No one except a few old monarchists even cared about the wedding.

William and Harry are higher in the line of succession and will eventually transition from being grandchildren of a monarch to children of a monarch, Eugenie will never have a higher status than being a grandchild of a monarch, and like her uncle and aunt (Anne and Edward) eventually fade into the background.

You do spout a load of crap I very much doubt prince Andrew did anything of the sort. Prince William and prince harry are prince Charles sons and eugenie is a minor royal and she wasn't married at Westminster abbey. But of course you already knew the answer to your question didn't you troll

They did not want to waste licence payers money on a minor royal.
