What is the maximum income for getting section 8 housing in Alabama?

    That depends on several factors like your household income and your area.

    On Section 8, your part of the rent is based on 30% of your income. Section 8 could pay all of it, OR they could hold you responsible for everything other than a small percentage. If you can afford to live somewhere else, why would you want to leech off of the taxpayers?

    Each year, HUD sets income limits which are broken down into three categories

    Extremely Low Income- 30 percent of the area’s median income level.   

    Very Low Income- 50 percent of the area’s median income level.   

    Low Income- 80 percent of the area’s median income level.
