What happens if a business fails to pay rates?

The place I work in is failing to pay its rates and rent, and is due to go to court tomorrow because the owner has failed to pay the rent, can I expect the business to close down?

Yes, its going to close down.  Maybe not immediately but if you don't pay your rates (I assume this means utility bills or taxes maybe?  - I'm in the USA adn the lingo is a b it different) and rent then eventually it will be shut down.

Do not leave any of your own tools or equipment at work, because if he gets closed down, then your stuff gets taken as if it were his.

I would say that it is a pretty safe bet that you will be out of a job, soon.

I don't know what "rates" is.

Anyone can be evicted for failing to pay rent.

Could be a dispute over services. Does not automatically mean closing own. But go to court or ask your boss.

Why haven't you brought it up with your boss or got another job?
