What are the mandatory rules for the UPSC exam?

The civil service exam will be conducted by union public service commission in the manner prescribed in appendix1 and there rules. For the main exam candidate should fill application form in detail and submit all the certificates and educational qualification with exam fee. The candidate is obliged to indicate the order of preferences only for the services participating in the civil services examination for the year, for which he is interested in being assigned, in the detailed online application form II (DAF-II) , before the start of the personality test (interviews) of the exam. With this module, a candidate must also upload documents / certificates for higher education, results in different fields, service experience, OBC attachment (only for the OBC category), EWS attachment (only for the EWS category), etc. In case of recommendation of its name by UPSC for the allocation of services, the candidate will be taken into consideration for the assignment to one of those services by the Government for which he must indicate his preference subject to the respect of other conditions. No change in service preferences once indicated by a candidate would be allowed. A candidate who wishes to be considered for the Indian administrative service or the Indian police service must indicate in the online detailed application form II his order of preferences for various areas and frameworks for which he would like to be considered for assignment if appointed to the Indian administrative service or to the Indian police service and no change in Zone and Cadre preferences would be allowed once indicated by a candidate.
