A rightward-moving motorcycle increases its speed from 5.0 m/s to 25.0 m/s. Is the motorcycle accelearting?
Thanks for the help!!

Please use a dictionary & look up the word accelerate.
- ExoplanetLv 71 month ago
No because accelearting is farting more and more rapidly, and mc's don't do that.

Yes, it is, by 20 m/sec .The Gee-forces would simply be this change, if Average, over the time.
1 Gee=9.8 m/sec/sec. If U accelerated 20 m/sec/sec For one second; that is 20/9.8/1 =2.04 gees. Force on yore butt and hands on bars would double. Hang on! That's why they call non-instrument flying "seat of the pants".
Any change in velocity Or direction; by engine input, braking, downward by gravity, or in a curve, is acceleration by definition. To hold that RH curve at a constant speed is actually acceleration, because you constantly change direction, angle.. U note U need to open throttle a bit on a curve to maintain constant speed. Centrifugal force pushes wheel into road for better stability.

If it is rightward-moving, it has been struck by a cage running a red light. Motorcycles don't go sideways.

If the motorcycle has increased its speed down a slope it's going faster but NOT accelerating since no power was necessary to go from 5m/s to 25m/s.

Well for sure it ain't slowing down is it!

What else could "increases it's speed" MEAN?
- Anonymous2 months ago
Acceleration is a change of velocity (speed). So yes, it accelerated.

.......yes, it is.
