Mel is right in that Australia’s own track record in human rights is pretty shoddy. There are quite a lot of similarities between the Manus Island detention centres and those in Xinjiang. That said, the situation in China is much worse. They are conducting cultural genocide pretty much. Authorities are separating Muslim children from their families in order to remove all cultural influences. I know Australia did that with the Aboriginals too but they now realise that it was the wrong thing to do.

Given Australia's current response to refugees and immigration; they're not doing particularly well either in this field.

    Australia's economy would collapse without:

    Selling Iron Ore to China.

    Selling Coal to China

    Importing Chinese students/migrants

And do you seriously think China would give a shìt what the Australian government thinks?

China imports 51 percent of what Australia exports and could economically choke the life out of Australia quite easily.

China is extremely sensitive to criticism especially white civilised criticism. It is Australia's choice whether to be bought or not.
