not dangerous if you are not a diabetic

    or have hypertension(high blood pressure)

    recurring tonsil infections suggests removing

it but i would prefer hot salt water gargles

    daily

All surgery carries risks, some from the surgery itself and some from the general anaesthetic.

At 37 you are still in your prime so there should be only the relatively low risk that there would have been if you'd had your tonsillectomy as a teen.

If you need it then go for it. Better to do it now than risk serious infections of your throat and possible surgery when older and more frail.

Do you believe that you've got a problem that needs solved?  Do you believe a tonsillectomy will solve it?   If you don't have a problem don't do it.

It's moderately dangerous at any age. Age doesn't matter so much as health, and today's 37yo is like a 55yo forty years ago, healthwise.
