What is this type of puzzle called?

Where, perhaps you have to row a dog, cat, and snake across a pond. You can't take the snake and cat together because the cat will attack the snake but you can't take the cat and dog together either because the dog will attack the cat...

    It's called a Conumdrum.......or logic puzzle.-  A puzzle with a complicated solution.

In this type of example, the answer usually involves, rowing back and forth in some pattern that eventually gets all 3 across the river...and maybe involves rowing one of them over, and then BACK, and then back over again...in combinations that work. ----if the condition is something like, you must have at least 2 in the boat at all times or something like that.

Otherwise, it's easy......you row them all across individually.  Problem solved.
