My mum is 1/2 Irish and my dad is full Irish, what does that make me?

That makes you 3/4 Irish, and 1/4 non Irish.

It wouldn't matter if they were both 100% full blooded Irish, her born and raised on Inishmore and him being born on the Hill of Tara and raised in its shadow. If you weren't born in Ireland and don't hold Irish citizenship, then you're of Irish descent, but not Irish. There are many people who hold an Irish passport but their ancestry is different. We don't care about that. What makes a person Irish is one's nationality. Unless you have that, you're not Irish. And while plenty of people - yanks mostly, managed to acquire the paperwork necessary to be able to apply for a passport because they were able to prove that their grandparents emigrated from Ireland, that doesn't make them Irish, at least not to us. The Romanians and Nigerians I play footy with in the park at the weekend are more Irish than some run of the mill Mike Murphy whose nan sailed from from County Clare in 1927.
