Is humans main disparity between the complexity of their minds and the relative simplicity of their basic desire of taste and sex?

Their greatest disparity is between the Spirit and the flesh.
"5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.(Romans 8:5-8)

Nope! It's absolutely consistent with being human. The one advantage of great age (appart from senility) is that life becomes much simpler as the various options available decrease in number on all fronts

I wouldn't call it a disparity, but we do have three different and mostly independent aspects to us, called the Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor Domains. Cognitive is thought, affective is emotions, and psychomotor is the body.

If kundalini is regarded as expressing both sexuality and awareness, there's a unity there.
