Can jumping a car excessively cause the battery to leak acid?

    Probably the battery leaking acid is why you need a jump to start the engine!  Stop messing around and get a new battery.

    No, but the fact that you have to jumpstart the car so much means that your battery is going bad. You shouldn't need to do it more than once in a year.

  • Excessive driving on bumpy terrain can split a car battery. The battery in my dune/bush buggy is centrally mounted and it did split open once before we added extra shock absorbing material under the battery plate.

      "Jumping" means taking jumping cables and restarting a car from another battery. It's not like Dukes of Hazard type jumping. LOL.

    Overcharging a battery can make it boilover, but simple jumping doesn't do that.
