Do people consider Synchronized swimming to be a "real sport"?

I do synchro and have debated with other people on wether or not its actually a sport and not just an art form.

    Yes, I do believe that it is a real sport. Synchronized swimmers have to use, pretty much, every muscle as well as a lot of core strength in order to for them to perform the routines. 

    I was a competitive swimmer and a Navy EOD/Diver. I have tried to do a few moves before and failed miserably.

    It is both ...definitely requires athletic ability.
