What would be causing the power steering pump pulley shaft to keep breaking in a 2005 chevy impala 3.8L non-turbo.?

    That's a good question because in the 45 years I've been working on cars I have never seen that.

    So I have a sh!t load of questions for you.Repost you question answering these:

    Is it snapping off or *radially twisting off? *looks like a twizzler.

    What was the reason the pump was replaced for the first time?

    Where was the replacement pump bought?

    Who replaced it?

    How many times have you replaced it?

    About how long will the replacement pump last? Week...month...won't make it out of the driveway?

    The reason I ask is

    You are claiming a piece of heat treated cold roll steel is failing before a rubber serpentine belt is failing.

    That's one tough belt.
