Can you get sick from being out in cold weather without a coat? ?

Colds and flu are caused by viruses, not temperature. And viruses are less active in the cold weather. Or am I in error?

You can get a fever and be unable to to digest anything for awhile.  Especially since a cold body makes it harder to absorb your food.

No jacket in cold weather can stress your immune system as the body must divert energy to warming the body.  And in colder weather people tend to be more grouped together which increases the chances of transmitting a virus.

You're correct, you get a cold or flu by coming in contact with someone who has the virus or something they've touched.

    Well there's always pneumonia!

My cousin says the same as you, and every winter he gets ill from going out in the freezing cold wearing a tee shirt!

Many of the viruses live better in the cold (why you should cover you nose with a scarf).  But yes, it's not the temperature directly.
