HIPAA complaint?

Hello,

I work for a private practice and contacted IT regarding an issue with the software. On the screenshot I took and sent via email contained the patients' name, date visited, provider. The person emailed me back stating that they will be filing a HIPAA complaint. The practice uses GMAIL but @privatepractice.com. Does this constitute a legitimate HIPAA complaint? Could I be criminally held responsible? Would the practice be fined?

Yes, it's a definite violation to disclose a patient's information.  That is what you did.

Yes, this is a blatant violation of HIPAA.  You and your soon to be ex-employer need to talk with your lawyers.
