what the meaning of "A day on either side"? peaky blinders fans?

Hi,

Is there anyone here, who is a fan of peaky blinders?

In the scene between Thomas and Lizzie,

she said,

People are loyal to those

who pay their wages. So I will be loyal to you.

But this is the deal.

You don't **** anybody else in my house.

Nor within a day of holding our child

by the hand. A day on either side."

I'm not sure I understand the meaning of "a day on either side"?

Don't need to be a fan.

It is a unique way of say, "Walk in the other person's shoes". [understand and feel their problems and joys]
