I don't know how much one pear costs, and I don't care. I gave up those kind of math questions when I was still in high school. If I want to know how much one pear is going to cost, I take it to the checker; she puts it on the scale and weighs it, and she tells me how much it's going to cost.

    92 cents. 8.8 oz is 0.55 lb

    $1.67/lb * 8 oz * 1 lb / 16 oz = your price.

    Simple calc.

(8.8oz/16oz) is your ratio, since there are 16oz in a pound

    8.8oz/16oz = 0.55$1.67 x (8.8oz/16oz) = $0.92

If you wanted to do quick math, just remember that 8.8oz is a little over half a pound, so you'd be paying a little more than half of $1.67...

    That's 55 percent of a pound, so multiple 1.67 X 0.55.

    8.8/16 x 1.67 = .9185 but they will round it to $.92
