IS the south american plate and the african plate moved apart suddenly OR MOVING APART GRADUALLY?

    The South American "plate" and the African "plate" have nothing to do with the "insurance & Registration" section of "Cars & Transportation".

    Slowly, gradually. . The N American plate moved 15 feet in  1910, causing San Francisco earthquake.

    Gradually. But, don't worry. The caldron that is now Yellowstone will blow soon - long before the plates move apart. Which means everyone dies.
