How do you respond to someone who thinks a singer is screaming when it's not?

It's called hitting the high note but they think it's screaming. How do you retort?

It's not necessary to respond to everything people say to you. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and we don't always have to agree, but we should respect one another's opinion. I have heard people refer to opera singing as screaming.

I wouldn't even know what they were thinking so I couldn't really either respond or retort.

There's no need to retort. What they think isn't important.

I taught Voice for over 25 years in the schools of NY state. There IS a lot of screaming, sad to say - singers doing the SSB at ball games are the worst offenders. Good technique is needed for really good high notes - and some singers think that THEY do not need to learn how . . .
