It's neither.  Diversity in it of itself has no positive or negative impact/bearing.  It's not about the diversity that creates that trend, it's the character of the individuals.

Pull 1x white inmate, 1x black inmate, 1x, mexican inmate, 1x chinese inmate.

Put them in a room and expect something positive to happen......except it won't, despite diversity being there.

EDIT:  The point [which I thought was obvious] is that diversity existing does not suddenly mean leprachaun pots of gold and good fortune suddenly appear as a result....which is what's being implied and everyone calling it a 'strength' for the sake of being diverse, when that's a crock of sh*t.

Very good answer Anon. Society will become greater when each individual emphasizes that goal by being responsible for his/her actions.

societal wise, culture can only be created through diversity

there is no such a thing as a unique pure culture since all cultures are a influenced or mixed from other cultures

even one of the most homogenous societies like Japan has many cultural influences from china and Korea

the United States was created by immigrants, every state has its own unique cultural heritage and unique communities that created their own traditions. you had many European immigrants from different countries that brought their cultures to america generations ago and their descended created a new brand of culture.

if you are claiming that you are against diversity for the sake of whiteness, than you are just making an excuse based on racism.

its not really about you wanting to  preserve cultural traditions, its more about preserving whiteness as a physical trait and going against anything that isn't physically white.

    which is by definition racist.

Total positive.  Greater diversity brings new ways of thinking and creative solutions to our problems.  The lack of diversity in the U.S. is a major reason our thinking is silo'ed and, therefore, we are losing ground when compared to the rest of the world.  The idea that nation-states based on a single culture are worth preserving and will provide solutions to our common problems is so World War II.  We're global citizens now first and foremost and we as a species can no longer afford to exclude any cultures.

That depends on the cultural aspects in question.

If one comes from a culture that holds obedience to the law, has a strong work ethic, and believes in self reliance, the other aspects of diverse cultures are irrelevant. Perhaps interesting on some level at best.

On the other hand, plenty of cultures are insular, hierarchical, misogynist, ones. Where corruption and factional infighting is the norm. And they have no history of valuing education or forward thinking.

Negative. Historically countries that were less diverse were more successful than more diverse societies. The claim by JFK and democrats since him is not only false, but the exact thing that societies don't need.

Edit: It's called history, libs. Look it up sometime.
