2005 BMW X5 front doors won’t open from outside, will open inside?

My wife and I drove through small winter storm and stayed at hotel, but, then in morning the bmw was frozen and we tried get door open but then but broke.  Can I just open from inside for while or does this need to be fixed ?

You need to open the inside door panel to see what broke. Maybe only a bellcrank came loose from the operating rod and you can snap that back on, if you're lucky. If a doorhandle broke, it will have to be replaced- shouldn't be too hard, but OEM parts cost $$$$. It won't hurt the car when you use the inside handle.

Common fault on the X5, the door handle breaks from inside, only repair is replace, you can find them on amazon, ebay, etc normally and not a terrible job to fit them.
