Very likely. An alien could hear our radio signals or observe methane and oxygen in our atmosphere. He would then know life was here.

Also, when a civilization branches out into space, they could explore every star in the galaxy in a few million years. That is an instant on the cosmic time scale.

    Very slim indeed

Our radio emissions have barely travelled around 100 Light Years

Given the events that have been broadcast over the 20th Century they might even be put off coming at all

Our own Galaxy is over 200 Million Light Years Across

Never mind the 13.4, if it really is, of the Universe

All this is a long way to come

and even finding us would be a needle in a Haystack

They could find earth easy enough, but how easy would it be to find you ?

If they can get here, half of their battle is won.

If they have the capability to scan an entire galaxy

and they survey it from above and below, they will

have no problem finding the planets that have water

as a major component of their surface construct and

available from underground sources as well.

It is safe to say that a being from somewhere else

finding the Earth, would be *very* likely,

Earth is emitting a ton of radio waves. With the right equipment it would be simple.

In less than 100,000 years our radio waves will reach the other side of our galaxy.  Unfortunately, after traveling more than a couple hundred light years, they will be weaker than the background noise.

Same way we're using our technology - eliminating the planets we're not all that interested in, and looking for Earth-like worlds...

  • Assuming their technology is adequate, they can filter down the amount of suitable planets for life.
