What type of a doctor do I see for a hernia bulging about the size of a quarter above belly button?

You will first need to be seen by your GP who will recommend you to be seen by a gastroenterologist if they deem it necessary.

A general surgeon will be able to help you with this problem. Sometimes a gastroenterologist, or a regular doctor and reduce your hernia, but if it is a very large hernia or a chance of strangulation, you should consult with a general surgeon. Please talk with your general practitioner to get a referral to see one.

i would see your primary care doctor, you'll need him to refer you to someone else anyways

My dad had this. Just a primary care doctor will do. They refer you to a surgeon to get it fixed. Family care doctor

You see your primary care doctor and he will refer you, likely to a general surgeon.
