The lungs (and the rest of the respiratory system) allow us to breathe. They bring air into our bodies (which is called inhalation) and recycle and take out the oxygen from the air and put it into our bloodstream. Then they filter the carbon dioxide and breath it out (called exhalation). This cycle is called respiration and it happens every time you breathe. TBH, bro, I don't remember learning this in grd 6, haha!

In basic words, the function of the lungs is to bring oxygen into your body, and release carbon dioxide from your body.

The main function of the lungs is to process gas exchange (breathing). Oxygen from incoming air enters the blood, and carbon dioxide, a waste gas leaves the blood.

Think of it as your garbage collector. You give him a bucket of rubbish. He empties it and return you a cleaned bucket of fruits.
