why are there a ridiculous amount of rhetorical political questions on yahoo answers?

Because most of the people in that category are not looking for information, they're looking to assert their position and, usually, denigrate the other side. But they're not supposed to do that, so they put it in the form of a question.

Because not enough users are reporting those posts, to get them taken down. Many users on the site choose to ignore the fact that YA is for knowledge seeking questions, so they post what they want (and hope it stays).

If you have cable news; that's all that has been on it. If you haven't watched cable news in 2 weeks and turned it on; it would be identical to the way it was.

It's called trolling. Like they are tolling the political ocean for arguments. The trolls get off on making controversial statements and then watching the arguments among the answerers. When I see an obvious troll, I ignore them or sometimes write "Troll......." where the answer would go.
