Is it a good idea to change PSN ID name? Any dangers?

    • First name change is free. If you want to change it again, you have to pay.

    • As someone else mentioned, older games and some newer games that you have already played may not accept the name change due to creating your profile with the current username.

    Any older games (PS3-era) that you have save states for may be unusable after a name change.

    I think it’s similar to a woman getting married and taking her husband’s last name. Her contacts may not know who she is by her new name. If she writes a scientific paper and uses her new name, her colleagues may not know what new paper she has written. Her new colleagues might not know to search for her previous papers using her old name. 

    So your friends have a lot of friends, they’re not going to recognize your new tag.
