How did the transcontinental railroad affect the US economy?

A) It caused a decline in agricultural production.

B) It created economic ghost towns across the West.

C) stimulated the production of steel and coal.

    This is tricky. I wonder if making rails and rolling stock out of steel would have an effect? Or the need for coal to burn in locomotives?

    Probably not. Everyone knows that the steel fairy and coal fairy provide this stuff.
