What is true: Abolishment of slavery lead to liberties in other ways in future years to come, such as women's right to vote.

What is not true: There are claims that there were no footage of the actual battles. This is false - there is in fact one photo of a battle taken from a country town, in black and white. Easy to find on YouTube.

    1. It was not primarily fought because of slavery.

    2. Not every confederate supported slavery. Many southern generals were disgusted by it.

    3. The south argued that Lincoln was violating the states' rights to self-government by the abolishment of slavery.

    4. Many of the union soldiers were drafted, and did not volunteer.

    Those are just a few.

It's true all the northern states used the power of states rights to individually abolish slavery in their states long before the Civil War began.

And it's true all the southern states were so adamant about keeping slavery they started the war over it.

Read a lot of books about the American Civil War from accredited reporters and historians. It was probably the first war that both victors and vanquished wrote about freely since the first shot, and the victors admired the Southern generals. Besides, the Northerners were not overwhelmingly abolutionist, and fewer saw the Black race as equals. The Southerners were not all slave owners either. Some might have thought the loss of their neighbours' slaves gave them a better chance to thrive.
