Is it coincidental: after Bernie’s ‘16 campaign, independent news media is suffocated on YouTube, and mainstream sites don’t have comments?

No, there is a concerted effort on the part of the mainstream media to downplay Bernies popularity. Every story of his popularity and electability is downplayed and every story that has a negative spin on it for Bernie gets the full treatment.

No, it’s not a coincidence. The 2016 Democratic primary was the closest the corporations and wealthy elite have ever come to losing complete control of our government.
The Democratic National Committee’s e-mail server was hacked, and WikiLeaks received and published e-mails showing that the DNC coordinated with and favored the Hillary Clinton campaign during the Democratic primary election.
In order to draw attention away from this, the Democratic establishment focused on how Russia “hacked our election.” The only problem is that it was simply Russian funded ads on sites like Facebook. No votes were actually changed.
Since the 2016 election opened many people’s eyes, the news media started shutting down their comments sections online, because it was all too easy for truly informed readers to expose the news articles as less than truthful.
Then corporations lobbied YouTube (owned by Google) to have stricter standards for which videos their ads are attached to, which gave YouTube the cover to be selectively hyper-vigilant against YouTube channels that dispel the false and misleading narratives of the mainstream news media.
YouTube prevents these channels from getting as many views as they did leading up to the 2016 election by building the video suggestion algorithm with a bias toward mainstream news. You can search various terms, and YouTube will suggest mainstream videos that are old, with relatively few views, over independent videos that are current and more relevant.
YouTube also severely limits the number of videos from independent channels that get monetized, even when there is nothing wrong with the content.

Could be. Remember anything is possible.
