    Pomme frites.

French is the cut of the potato, not the origin of the dish.

    Pomme frites.

If they're sliced super thin they're called aiguillettes (needle-ettes) or allumettes (matchsticks).

    In French, frites.

In the Flemish part of Belgium where they were invented, frietjes.

In the English speaking world, chips.

But Americans were never any good at English or Geography.
