    Each day, the remaining isotope is 96.581% of what it was the day before.

    So what happens is that you will get, after "n" days, 0.96581^n.

    The equation to solve is therefore 0.5 = 0.96581^n  where the number of days is "n".

    That is easily done with the logarithms.
