Best flooring for hot outdoor patio?

I live in California, where my patio is in direct sunlight year-round. I currently have concrete which doesn't get too hot under my feet, but I want to make the flooring really nice with a tile of some sort.

I've tried porcelain and slate; both get impossibly hot in the sun.. I don't like the look or options for travertine, and ripping up the concrete to put in new, tile-stenciled concrete isn't an option. What material can I look at that doesn't absorb so much heat in 80-100 degree weather? (My dog lays out on the patio most of the day)

Have your existing concrete patio resurfaced and stamped.

You can have your concrete resurfaced and tile stamped. Maybe look at a pergola or awnings to shade the patio.
