    look around for similar cars of the same age and miles, work it out from there

    You search for the common price that year, make and model sells for. Decide if yours is worth that much, then haggle with prospective buyers.

    Take it to carmax and get a cash offer and mark it up from there. $800-1500 to start.

    Note, cars above $5000 are very hard to sell on your own.

    Set your price at the top end to allow downward movement.

    Based on comparables private sales within a 300 mile radius. Check autotrader or Craig's List.
